Jennifer Clothier Mosaics
Artist Statement
After retiring Jennifer moved to Montana she found the bounty of treasures for the adventurer expanded exponentially: sheds, skulls and spent brass.
Continuing to gather these elements determined to transform them into something new and beautiful.
Learning the art of glass through two local Bitterroot artists: Amy Knight and Patty Franklin, and between the brilliance and beauty of the glass, the natural essence of horn and bone, the shiny attraction of spent brass, and good old rocks.
In keeping with her desire to gather and conserve Jenn mostly uses recycled and resourced materials. The backings are old industrial carpet squares, refurbished cabinet doors, and old frames and mirrors. Using “scrap glass” (the leftovers from glass artists and broken things) for her mosaic work.
Jennifer has been profoundly contented and fulfilled working with the beautiful element’s nature has offered up creating art within the realm of their will.
