Artist Statement

. Barbara’s paintings are created with gouache, an opaque watercolor medium, and recently she has been adding an encaustic finish to some paintings. Achieving the flat bright colors found in folk and tribal art, as well as the attention to detail is a challenge. Her small sculptures are a mix of styles and techniques inspired by different cultures, folk and ethnic art and literature as well as nature. She blends traditional crafts and ideas that she explored in her world travels
