Sgraffito (in Italian “to scratch”) is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of contrasting color (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off the layer(s).

Chris Wise is a local Bitterroot artist. She began her art career when her daughter bought her a set of oil paints in 2002. Just a year and a half later, Chris had her first art show. Now, she teaches art therapy to local veterans and pottery classes at Clayworks In The Bitterroot.
